The questions families ask first.

If the answer is not here, write to support@childstep.app — a person reads it, usually within two working days.

Does my child need their own account?

No. A parent or guardian creates the family and adds each child — the adult stays responsible for the family and its data. If your child has their own phone, you can give them the family code from their member card in Settings, and they sign in with it on their device.

How do reminders work?

A reminder arrives on the phone of whoever the step belongs to, 30 minutes before it is due by default. You can change that time, or turn reminders off entirely, in Settings.

On the reminder itself you can answer the step — done, missed or skipped — and the app opens on that step with the answer already recorded, so you can see it landed.

I marked a step by mistake. Can I undo it?

A one-off step can be reopened from the step's own page, whatever you marked it. For a repeating step, today's answer can be changed; days further back are locked for now — being able to reopen an older day is on the list.

What is the difference between missed and skipped?

Missed means it should have happened and did not: it counts against the goal and shows up in Insights. Skipped means it was called off on purpose — a holiday, an illness, a cancelled lesson — and it does not count against you. Keeping them apart is what makes the numbers worth reading.

Does it work without internet?

Yes. You can answer steps offline; the changes queue on the phone and send themselves the moment you are back online. If something cannot be sent, the app tells you which step and which day, rather than losing it quietly.

Can both parents use it? What about grandparents?

Yes — a family can have several grown-ups. The organiser invites them, and everyone sees the same goals, steps and comments. A step belongs to one person, but anyone in the family can cheer it or leave a note on it.

How do I get my data out, or delete it?

Settings → Manage data, in the app. Export gives you your family's data; Delete account removes yours. Before you confirm, the app shows what happens to each family you belong to — including the case where nobody else can manage it and the whole family is deleted with it.

You can also ask us at support@childstep.app, or use the data-deletion page.

Which phones does it run on?

iPhone and Android. You sign in with Apple or Google — there is no ChildStep password to invent or forget — and the same family shows up on every device the grown-ups and children sign in on.

Does ChildStep show ads or track my child?

No, and no. There are no advertising or tracking SDKs in the app at all. Crash reports are stripped of names before they are sent, and nothing about your family is sold or shared for advertising. The full detail is in the Privacy Policy.

What does it cost?

Nothing today — the app is free and has no in-app purchases. The prices we intend to launch with, including the early price for families who are already here, are on the Pricing page.
